How XR technology (VR, AR, and MR) is and will shaping our future

XR  technology is already part of our daily lives today - will grow much more in the future - and they are going to be widespread and accessible technology with limitless applications and potential - that will make living, working or getting needed information at hand in the near future.

XR (Extended Reality) encompasses a conglomeration of VR (Virtual Reality) , AR (Augmented Reality) and MR (Mixed Reality).

There are many headsets that exist and support XR, MR, and AR today, however most of them are meant for developers thus the price is enormous.

But many companies focusing in the development of AR, VR, MR and now XR are beginning to pay attention to the consumer market.

In the near future we will see more XR devices coming to live that will transform our day to day life and will eventually replace other mobile devices as we use today.

The future with these many XR devices in a post-smartphone world does look very bright and awesome.

Example:

HoloMed is an augmented reality application that supports neurosurgeons for ventricle punctures.

During the operation, doctors receive virtual information such as CT and MRI images over the patient's head with millimetre precision.

Graphic elements help the doctor to locate the puncture site and angle. This will make the operation more efficient and safer.
