UI & UX - Fins, Sharks and Dolphins

There are so many visualization of the comparisons, connections, etc of UI and UX the most and well known is for sure the "iceberg image" - which even I use most often. Recently I shared the idea of "horse riding and saddle, the stirrups, & the reins". But I do have as well the idea of the "dorsal fins of sharks & dolphins" in mind.

The visible part, the fin, ... the part which arouse attention is as the UI. But the 'interesting', challenging, crucial and decisive factor(s) are below the surface.

Simplicity is everything when it comes to great UX and good design.
As Albert Einstein famously said, “Any darn fool can make something complex; it takes a genius to make something simple.
The user experience of any product should be as straightforward, 'simple' and plain (that includes absolutely plain visual design and plain language or in other words a design and language which fits and meets the 'world' of the user) as possible for the purpose.
As soon as the user lands on a website or opens an app, they should be able to understand, orientate, navigate from one content to the other without even thinking about it - "Don't make me think" as Steve Krug called it (and his book).
Great UX design is about simplifying the user journey. As I started as designer, studied and worked as architect and town planner and now as UX designer, I firmly believe that it’s important to think beyond the real and digital touchpoints, and for sure beyond the app you are currently working on. Even if you’re working primarily in the digital space, remember that you’re literally surrounded by design. From architecture to fashion, right down to the simplest everyday objects like a little pen or razor or eyeliner in the morning, virtually everything has been designed for human use. Design really is everywhere, so take inspiration from your surroundings.
